Scientifically known as Pachira aquatica - and also called the Guiana chestnut - the Money Tree is native to Central and South America. It is extremely popular in Taiwan and East Asia for its popularity in Feng Shui practices, but it is recognizable across the globe. The Money Tree is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the owner, and are thus popular housewarming gifts. The Money Tree is a member of the Bonsai family.

How to take care of your Money Tree


Water thoroughly once every one to two weeks. Make sure to give this plant a lot of water when you do water it, but let the soil dry out completely between waterings.


Money Trees prefer bright indirect light, but can live in low light conditions.


Money Trees prefer temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees F and will thrive if you mist your Money Tree regularly.


The money tree is non-toxic to pets.
