The spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is considered one of the most adaptable of houseplants and one of the easiest to grow. This plant can grow in a wide range of conditions and suffers from few problems, other than brown tips. The spider plant is so named because of its spider-like plants, or spiderettes, which dangle down from the mother plant like spiders on a web. Available in green or variegated varieties, these spiderettes often start out as small white flowers.

    Water

Water thoroughly and frequently but allow the soil to dry between waterings and make sure the soil drains well. Brown tips are normal and will not harm the plant. They are often a result of using tap water. To avoid brown tips, use distilled water or rainwater.

    Light

Spider Plants prefer bright, indirect light.

    Temperature

Spider Plants prefer a temperature range from 55 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit

    Potting

Make sure your plant has well-draining soil.

    Propagation

Spiderettes can be propogated from the mother plant. If you see a spiderette, plant it in nearby soil while still attached to the mother until it roots, and then separate it from the mother for best results.
