If you have ever struggled with sleep and melatonin is just not cutting it, incorporate some (or all!) of these plants into your dreamscape to help with your rest. Jasmine and lavender give off a scent that helps promote relaxation. Their use as essential oils for relaxing is already lodged into our collective consciousness, so your subconscious is already primed to smell them and relax.
Snake plants purify the air, along with pothos, making them an natural – and less expensive! – solution to an electronic purifier. Aloe are also good air purifiers, but beyond that their gel is useful for treating minor cuts and burns! Peace lilies and areca palms are able to create more humidity in a room, which is linked to better sleep, especially for people with sinus problems. English Ivy is also touted as a plant that helps those suffering from sinus issues during the night.
Another perfect bedroom plant is the Chinese evergreen. They are low maintenance AND clean the air in your space. Not to mention the fact that they look darn good and require little to no care!
Bonus plant: the bromeliad! They remove toxins from the air at night and absorb CO2 during the day.
Bottom line: plants can improve not just the look of your room, but the actual quality of your sleep! Seems like a pretty easy choice to make – struggle to sleep in a room devoid of plants, or drift off to dreamland surrounded by a jungle’s worth of plant life.
